From intern to senior leader, Jasmine Amini has quickly established herself in the field of transportation safety.
After earning her Bachelor’s in Occupational Health and Safety, Amini began her career at Metrolinx as a Safety and Business Continuity Intern at the onset of the pandemic. In a time of rapid change, she supported critical planning efforts to ensure operations could continue safely.
She was later promoted to Passenger and Public Safety Officer, becoming the youngest to hold the role, where she contributed to initiatives focused on protecting frontline staff and the public.
Driven by a desire to better understand and reduce safety risks, Amini pursued a Master of Engineering, specializing in Forensic Engineering and Transportation Engineering and Planning. This further strengthened her technical knowledge and systems-level approach to safety.
Today, Amini is the youngest and first female Senior Accident Investigator at Metrolinx. She leads high-risk investigations and has helped shift the organization’s approach to incident analysis from surface-level findings to identifying underlying systemic contributors. Her work plays a key role in long-term safety improvements.
Amini also mentors new investigators, encourages cross-team collaboration, and supports students and early-career professionals entering the safety field. Her leadership continues to shape a more thoughtful, inclusive, and resilient safety culture.
