Miranda Brazil is the manager of safety at Newfoundland Power, where she leads the development and delivery of corporate safety programs and systems that help protect employees, contractors, and the public across all areas of electric utility operations.
With more than 20 years of progressive safety leadership experience, Brazil brings deep expertise and a proven track record in strengthening safety culture and performance. Her career spans a wide range of sectors, including education, healthcare, construction, transportation, infrastructure, human resources, and justice, giving her a well-rounded and practical perspective on safety in complex environments.
Before joining Newfoundland Power, Brazil held key leadership roles within the provincial public service, where she led initiatives in fleet maintenance, traffic control, risk management, emergency and crisis response, contractor safety, and compliance training.
She is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and holds a Master of Education, a Bachelor of Education in Post-Secondary Studies, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She is known for her strategic mindset, innovative approach, and genuine commitment to improving safety legislation, having contributed her expertise to provincial focus groups and committees dedicated to enhancing public and workplace safety.

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
