Mary Marziano is a trusted leader in workplace health and safety and injury management, known for bringing a rare dual perspective to every file – she has represented both workers and employers. She began her career managing injury claims for a local union, gaining firsthand insight into the worker experience, before moving to a consulting firm where she helped employers build practical, results-driven return-to-work programs.
In 2005, Marziano founded Safety First Consulting Professional Corporation to fill a critical gap in employer advocacy services. She later became a licensed paralegal, formally expanding her ability to represent employers in workplace injury matters. Under her leadership, Safety First has grown from a two-person startup into a nationally recognized firm, now serving nearly 500 employers with a team of 25 dedicated professionals.
A long-time trailblazer for women in construction and safety, Marziano was featured early in her career in Builder+Architect’s Women in Construction issue. Her leadership style is rooted in mentorship, collaboration, and building an inclusive culture – fostering a strong “work-family” environment where people feel supported and valued.
In 2025, SafetyCo Partners invested in Safety First Consulting, helping expand its integrated safety and injury management services across Canada. Today, Marziano continues to lead with integrity, champion women in the industry, and set a high standard for excellence in workplace safety and advocacy.

“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics.
