“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”
Kelvin Rampersad,
Carte Wealth Management
Dana Johnson has been a safety professional for over 20 years, driven by a passion for excellence in safety through team building, leadership, and accountability. Her numerous safety designations reflect her commitment to continuously enhancing her skills and knowledge. She is honoured to have been nominated by her peers for this recognition.
A strong advocate for safety as a collective responsibility, Johnson often says, “Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and teamwork makes the dream work.”
In her role as the regional EHS director for Sysco Prairies, covering Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwest Ontario, Johnson has led her team to win two internal safety awards, one external safety award, and achieve the distinction of being the first in the warehousing and distribution sector in Manitoba to receive Safe Work/COR Certification.
Johnson is committed not only to promoting safety and accountability but also to supporting reconciliation efforts and PAIR certification with the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB). She serves on the 2025 Leadership Pillar with Sysco and is the chair of the Circle (Indigenous) CRG. She also volunteers across the industry to promote safety, education, and mentor new professionals.
Johnson believes in keeping safety engaging and fun, saying, “We have to keep safety fun and engaging; when it becomes overwhelming, people don’t want to do it. It’s important that we all go home safely at the end of every day – we don’t come to work to get injured; we come to work to support ourselves and our family. We all deserve a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace, and anyway I can lead that and make it possible, I will.”
